my local VW dealer has ALL 19 in stock of their Golf Alltraks listed at MSRP on their website. the nearest dealer in another small market has ~$2000 dealer discounts on their website.
A soon to be discontinued in the US model should be discounted, right? I me an , full price listed is for cars that are selling well enough to be continued?

I wouldn’t put much stock in what a car is listed at on a website. Even when discounted online, I still don’t put much stock in it. Email them and see what they’ll do.

You can’t expect any step in the VWoA supply chain, all the way from product development down to the buyer, to follow typical market expectations.

My local VW dealer is insane. They want $31,000 for a leftover 2018 Alltrack. It’s a multi company dealership and they let the VW’s and Mazda’s just sit there rather than selling. Everyone I’ve met with new Mazda’s is driving 2 hours to a Mazda dealer rather than buy at the local Mazda/VW dealer. I suspect it’s some sort of tax fraud thing going on behind the scenes. The Honda dealership owns the Mazda/VW and the Mitsubishi dealership as well. What’s interesting is that the Honda’s actually sell.

Just bought one and ran into the same problem! Two dealers really did not seem interested in my business!
It seems like a lot of VW dealers are stuck in that old school “just get down here and we’ll get you in a car” mentality. The dealer I actually bought from was not at all like that. I was done in two hours 5k off sticker. 2019 Alltrack SE, 6MT, every option in Platinum Grey.
The first dealer said they had a stick in stock, made an appointment with me to drive one, then cancels an hour before saying the vehicle won’t be ready and isn’t actually a stick. Then he never followed up! The dealer has since been received two more manuals and I’ve never received an update.
The second dealer let me drive one, but then just stopped talking after I said that their trade deal wouldn’t work for me and I would keep my truck. I was still interested in buying the car, but the conversation just kinda died.
The third dealer was awesome, they were ready to go when I got there, didn’t bs at all we made a deal quickly and I was out. I also got to do all the paperwork on a smart board that this dealer has built into their finance desks, super cool!

I saw and visited a few dealers like that as well. Alltracks and GSW’s were priced at the top of the pile, and when I asked about them. The response was kind of like “yes VW makes those , and we have them . However, what you want is actually this Tiguan here, look at all the different ones we have...There are hundreds !”

My local Mazda dealer is similar. We went there on Saturday, prices are only maybe $1000 lower than MSRP on Grand Touring CX-5s, when I can get $4000-$5000 off at a dealer an hour away. And their used prices are insane, usually only a few thousand less than a new one.

19 of them? I looked at every dealer in a 200-mile radius and they all have 1-2.
Just because it’s discontinued doesn’t meant it should get a discount. There is still demand for these, they’re just being patient about it. I guess. But I’ve never seen a discontinued car heavily discounted — sometimes it the opposite, as everyone rushes out to get one before they’re gone (remember the Pontiac G8?)
The two S models at my local dealer have been there 6+ months and are $5k off MSRP. But I asked them about it and it requires jumping through some hoops, like using VW financing (at the “full rate”) for at least 4 months, among other things.
